We wrote earlier on our blog about how often many people constantly feel exhausted.
Every day we all face many challenges. More and more often I come across the term "chronic fatigue syndrome". What is it actually, and how can we help ourselves? In our blog you will find techniques on how to balance your energy, how to look inside yourself and to consciously be here and now. But how do you find the Energy for it?
How does one ignite ones inner fire when you suddenly must perform an intense task, have an important meeting, have a difficult conversation, or even simply read with your child, and you find you have absolutely no strength for it?
Knowledge about how Tibetan monks harness the 3-steptechnique called TUMMO comes to our aid. This is a technique that you can use anywhere, in a sitting position - at home, in the office, ona bus or in the park. It does not require any special activity or skills from you.
To increase your internal energy, you just need to slightly increase your body temperature, i.e. expand the blood vessels inside your torso. Here are the three steps:
1. sit in a relaxed position, close your eyes and focus your attention to the inside of your belly, imagine that you are igniting a warm, soothing flame in it. Visualize the heat rising and feel it spreading over your chest and entire torso. This should be an image of a friendly inner fire, not a consuming flame; give yourself 20 seconds for this. If you just focus on this activity, I guarantee you that you will feel a pleasant internal warmth within the first few seconds of the exercise.
2. then add muscle tension to the process of warming up the torso for another 20 seconds - it does not matter which muscles you tense - the muscles of the legs, hands or buttocks. Tighten them now. As the heat spreads through your torso, you tense selected muscle groups.
3. still keeping your eyes closed, but don't focus on your inner fire (it did its job - it raised your core temperature), you don't have to tense your muscles anymore. Now just recall a situation that required you to fully mobilize your body and mind, e.g. you were running away from someone or something or you saw your bus/train coming and you had to catch it, so you gave chase. Whatever it is - bring it to your mind and imagine it happening now! (my favourite mobilization is escaping from the pack of wolves chasing me - I saw it in a movie once and I almost ran with the hero of that movie;). Give yourself another 20-30 seconds for this mobilization/visualization to take effect.
Now, let go and take a deep breath. As you see, the entire exercise takes less than 1.5 minutes. I promise you that this technique is simple, and anyone can do it easily. If you practice it even once, right after reading this text, you will immediately understand what I am talking about and how effective this exercise is.
You can practise this any number of times during the day - at your energy wells, or when you are on a long car journey (stop in the parking lot and do this exercise), or right after waking up in the morning.
And when you need a little kickstart, take a shortcut and do just the first step of this technique - inner fire visualizations!
Let’s roll!
